"World War II" Primary sources. By: Barbara C. Bigelow.
In this book it talks about how the invasion took place. It also has information on the war from the veterns. "After we jumped into the water, it was every man for himself. I waded parallel to the beach with my squad because the heavy fire was directed towards the boats... I saw Lieutenant Hilscher go down on his knees as a shell exploded. He fell into the hole caused by the explosion. He died there on the beach." This is what Sergeant Warner Hamlett said. It also talks about how everyone got hit and died, or hit.
